April in Primary One
This month we watched the blossoms on the school cherry trees bloom. We went outside and really looked at their petals and beautiful colours. Using some pastels and charcoal we drew the trees and shaded the blossoms in pinks. As well as drawing we painted the cherry trees and made some collages using sifferebt textures of paper and actual cherry blossom petals. In class we learned about local artists such as Colin Middleton and T.P Flanagan who painted trees. We really enjoyed using the different types of art materials and the weather was great.
Before Easter we learned about 'Eggs' and how to cook them in class. We looked at a raw egg and found out how it looked when we cooked it. We had fun decorating real eggs and then we rolled them down a small slope to see who's egg cracked the least. A local hen farmer came to the school and taught us about hens and how to handle one. They had fluffy, soft feathers and they laid three eggs for us in school.
