February in Primary 4
February was another busy month in Primary 4.
We started the month off by celebrating St. Brigid's day. We made St. Brigid's crosses out of pipe cleaners and had a visit from Una Walsh. She told us lots of stories and facts about St. Brigid. She explained the tradition of leaving a cloth/scarf outside on St. Brigid's Eve, so that the spirit of St. Brigid would pass over it and bless it to help with sore throats and headaches.
In Numeracy we were exploring tessellation and conducted an investigation to see what 2D shapes would tessellate.
In Literacy we have started to look at Fables, Myths and Legends. We were fortunate enough to have another visit from Una where she told us lots of local stories. We heard about the legend of Fionn MacCumhaill and Setanta, as well as the story of the Children of Lir.
