WAU – Climate Change

In class this month, we have been looking at climate change. We looked at the different types of biomes such as the desert, the tundra and the grasslands.

We went onto google and researched the location and climate, plants, animals and fun facts about each one. Then we wrote all the information about biomes into our books and drew an image of the biome in a jar.

Numeracy

In Numeracy this month, we done simplifying fractions, once we done this we then looked at finding fractions of an amount. We got to do some problem solving based on coca cola, we had to make a list of all the different ways we could make 2 litres and then find all the different prices they would be. We then looked at decimals, looking at tenths and hundredths and the value of each digit in a number.

We looked at how to find the volume of a cuboid and also 3d shapes. We looked at all the shapes we knew and their properties such as vertices, edges and if they had curved or flat faces.

Literacy

In March for Literacy, we did adverbs of time, place and manner as well as looking at antonyms using prefixes. An antonym is a word that has the opposite meaning. We looked at different things such as auxiliary verbs, personal and possessive pronouns, using its and it’s, adjectival clauses and lots more.

We got to read comprehensions based on legends and myths and we got to write our own version of a myth. A myth describes how things began, and we wrote our myth based on how Earth was created.

WAU – Rainforests

In March, we have been learning about the different animals that live in the rainforests. We looked at mammals, what makes an animal a mammal and then we got to use the computers to research an animal that we liked, looking at their appearance, habitat, diet, and more. We then done this for fish and reptiles that also live in the Rainforests.
