March in Primary 6

31st Mar 2025

March was a great month in Primary 6.

To celebrate St. Patrick's Day we made shamrock people and decorated our shamrocks.  We learned lots of interesting facts about our patron saint.  We attended our annual Irish Mass where we sang and said the responses in Irish.  At the 'Green Day Assembly' we played an Irish tune (Kerry Polka) on the tin whistle and sang O̒ro̒, se̒ do bheatha ‘bhaile.  Some pupils took to the stage to sing this song solo at the Feis.  Well done to all our soloists.

To mark the beginning of Lent we received ashes from Canon Toner and we made our Lenten promises and we are continuing on our Lenten journey to Easter.

During March the choir worked particularly hard with Mrs. Ziegesloo and Bernadine in preparation for Warrenpoint Feis and Newry Feis where they were successful in both singing and drama.

We participated in the World Maths Day competition on Mathletics.  This tested our mental maths skills in competition with schools all over the world.  Congratulations to Adam and Ryan  who came 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Well done to all our Pupils of the week, those that met their Accelerated Targets and received certificates in Mathletics.

Good luck to Daniel and the P7 members (Credit Union Quiz team) who are participating in the All-Ireland final in Dublin at the weekend.
