Numeracy
This month during our numeracy lessons we have been learning how to use BODMAS. We know the order of operations include Brackets, Orders, Division and Multiplication, Addition and Subtraction. We have been learning how to find the perimeter and area of 2D and 3D shapes. We have been practising our divison and multiplication skills using different methods.
Literacy
This month in Literacy we have been learning about homonymes, homographs and homophones. We are continuing to read our Novel 'Under the Hawthorn Tree'. We wrote a news report about a soup kitchen in Kineen and we created a story board about one of the chapters in our novel.
World Around Us - History
This month we were learning about 1846 and Black 47 during the famine. We learned that Black 47 was the worst year of the famine. We also learned about different types of famine relief. One type of famine relief was called public works. This is when people had to build structures even though they were sick or starving. Another famine relief method was soup kitchens. This is were people could go to get soup to drink.
Football
Some of our class were chosen to play at half time during the Armagh match. They all were fantastic role models for our school displaying great skill and respect for others during their match.
