WAU – Materials

This month we have been learning about materials. We talked about how there are two different types of materials: Man-Made and Natural.

Man-Made materials are made by people and can be made using natural materials. Some examples of man-made materials are glass, pencil, paper and rubber.

Natural materials are made natural and can be found outside, some can even be found underground. Some examples of natural materials are; wood from trees, stone, sand, fur, wool, water and soil.

Numeracy

We have been learning about angles, we have learned the different names of angles which are, acute angle, right angle, obtuse angle, straight line and reflex angle. We have been working on multiplying numbers by multiples of 10, 100 and 1000.

We have been working hard on our vertical addition and subtracting of numbers up to 5 digits. As well as working on our mental subtraction and addition. We then completed more work on finding the missing angles in triangles and using different steps to help us.

Literacy

In November, we have been doing a lot in literacy. We started off by writing about Anne Frank and we also got to write a diary entry and a biography about her.

We looked over verbs and adjectives and we done lots of comprehensions. For Anti-Bullying week we looked at the different forms of bullying which we found out were; cyber bullying, verbal bullying, physical bullying and emotional bullying. We then wrote a poem on anti-bullying which was fun.

We looked over adding speech marks into direct speech and we then looked at changing direct speech into reported speech. We then learned what a main clause is and a subordinate clause is.

WAU – Vikings

This month we have been learning about what Vikings would wear. They would have worn different clothes than what we would wear today. Vikings used clothes that would protect them in fights such as clothes made from chain. They would also use their shields to protect them in battles as well.

We looked at how they cook their food, where they get their food from, and we learned that they had to go out and hunt for food because they didn’t have shops to go to like we do.

This month, we began our Viking project on Minecraft, we were split into groups and each group is given a new task each week. The first week we had to build our Viking longhouse and the second week we had to build our Viking longboat.
