P.2. January News

30th Jan 2025

The Primary 2s have had a fantastic start to 2025. We celebrated Catholic Schools Week, in particular, Grandparents Day! We talked all about our grandparents, near and far. We created cards to thank them for all they do for us.

In Numeracy, we are discovering lots of different ways of how we can use addition. Through physical objects, games and integrating addition in our daily routine.

In Literacy, we discovered how to label diagrams. We explored the delightful story of Jonty Gentoo by Julia Donaldson. The children had a wonderful time engaging with the story and discovering more about Gentoo penguins. We looked at pictures of Gentoo penguins and we labelled their unique features, such as their webbed feet, orange beaks, and flippers. 🐧

We continued to develop our Handwriting skills. First, we warm up our hands so we are ready to write. If you wish to continue hand exercises at home, click on the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSTHl_YEpGY&t=57s

This week, we talked about Chinese New Year. 🐍 Thank you to Mia for bringing in a beautifully knotted pendant. We hung it up on our door and created lanterns to mark the event. We found out that when some of us were born in 2019, it was the year of the pig which means that we are generous and we take care of our friends.

We will all be celebrating St. Brigid’s day on Saturday and sharing what we have learned about the life of St. Brigid.
