September in P6
P6 had great fun completing the ‘All about Me’ display. They began by writing a paragraph about themselves, adding in interesting facts and details that they would like to share. Once they finished, they were asked to complete a drawing of themselves. The children put loads of effort in their writing and artwork and I think it turned out amazing!
Numeracy
This month in numeracy we have been working on loads of things. One of those things is adding and subtracting numbers and learning the place value of digits.
We then started to read and write our numbers like 15,000 = fifteen thousand. We found reading and writing numbers to 100,000 tricky but Mrs Magennis helped us.
We started looking at different lines in numeracy like diagonal, perpendicular, intersecting, parallel, vertical and horizontal and now everyone knows them off by heart.
We started to work on rounding to the nearest 10’s and 100’s and this week we have been looking at sorting out irregular and regular shapes.

Literacy
This month in literacy, we have been learning about capital letters, full stops, using speech marks and adding ‘s’ or ‘es’ to words to make them plurals.
We got to write a continuation of a story, it was fun to do because we got to use our imaginations. We got to learn some common sayings and some of our favourites are:; ‘I’ve got a bone to pick with you’, ‘it’s raining cats and dogs’ and ‘to paddle ones own canoe’.

WAU – Vikings
This month in world around us, we are learning about Vikings. We made 3d Viking ships and designed our own shields.
We got to do map work, looking at where the Vikings came from and where they invaded and fought. We got to watch videos and look at pictures of what the Vikings looked like, how they travelled and how they lived.

WAU – Healthy Living
In world around us this month we have been learning about healthy living, we have looked at the circulatory system and the organs in our body.
We have learned how our heart pumps blood all around our body.
We completed an experiment outside to see what would happen to our heart rates when we exercised. We got to do skipping, running and jogging and then we took our heart rate after each exercise to see how fast our heart was beating.
